Bios

Renee Denney has been teaching at Milton High School since 2003 teach and directing in the Theatre Department and has been working in the TAG department since 2008.  Mrs. Denney works with the TAG Professional Internship Program and coordinates the TAG testing.  This year she is serving as the TAG Department Chair.  Mrs. Denney holds a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from Auburn University and an M.F.A. in Theatre Performance from the University of Tennessee.  She earned her Gifted Endorsement through North Georgia College.  She can be found in room 7145 in the Media Center.

Crystal Wludyga is in her first year teaching mathematics and TAG at Milton and 15th year overall.  She is originally from Florida and has taught at different high schools in both Georgia and Florida.  Mrs. Wludyga earned a B.S. degree in Secondary Math Education from Florida State University and a gifted endorsement through North Georgia RESA.  She teaches Directed Study courses in the TAG department and can be found in room 3205.

Melanie Painter has been at Milton High School since 1999 teaching art courses and recently joined the TAG department. She previously taught visual arts and drama in Dunwoody, GA and Portland, Oregon. She earned a B.S.E.D in Art Education at The University of Georgia, and a Master’s in Art Education at North Georgia College and State University. Mrs. Painter teaches Introductions to Art, Computer Arts/ Digital Design, Ceramics, Drawing and Painting courses in the Art Department, art related seminars, and coordinates TAG’s directed study program. She is also a Milton High School alumni member and loves being back in her home town to raise her two daughters. Room 7301.

Tami Saren began teaching in 1991 at Lassiter High School in Cobb County. She came to Milton in 2001 and taught business and technology courses for three years. Ms. Saren joined the TAG team in 2007 and currently teaches the Hire Me seminar. Ms. Saren works with the Talon Report students and is excited to share her love of teaching with the Teaching as a Profession students. Ms. Saren is an advisor for the Milton Student Council and Eagle Leaders/Freshmen FLIGHT program. Ms. Saren attended The University of Georgia and loves to cheer for the Dawgs and the Eagles!

Chris Shumuck The 2015-2016 school year is Chris Shumick’s fourth year as the Director of Bands at Milton High School in Milton, Georgia. Prior to his appointment at Milton, he spent five years as the inaugural band director at Woodland High School in Henry County and previously taught for three years at Jonesboro High School in Clayton County. Originally from Alliance, Ohio, he holds a Bachelor in Music Education from Bowling Green State University (2004), and both Master’s and Education Specialist’s degrees from The University of Georgia (2007, 2009). Ensembles under his direction have consistently received superior ratings at GMEA concert and marching band events and the Milton Band was the recipient of the 2014 GMEA Exemplary Performance Award. In recent years, groups he has led have received invitations to perform at the University of Alabama Honor Band Festival, The University of South Carolina Band Clinic, The University of Georgia’s January Music Festival, Georgia State University’s “Bands of Distinction” Honor Clinic and the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in Savannah. Mr. Shumick is a six-time recipient of the National Band Association’s Citation of Excellence, and, as the conductor, was the recipient of the 2013 Shuler Hensley award for “Best Pit Orchestra” at the Georgia High School Musical Theater Awards. In addition to frequently serving as an adjudicator and clinician for marching and concert band events in the Atlanta area, he is a staff member for the Georgia Ambassadors of Music European tours. Mr. Shumick is a former member of the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps from Canton, Ohio, and has also performed as a brass musician with the Cobb Wind Symphony in Marietta, Georgia.
